How To Get Rid Of Age Spots With Hydrogen Peroxide?

March 21, 2017 by Admin2 Leave a Comment

Hydrogen peroxide is an antiseptic which is most commonly used for medicinal purposes: it cleans and disinfects wounds and is sometimes used as a mouth rinse which prevents irritation and soreness.  It is also used as hair bleach, treatment for acne, toothbrush disinfectant and even as a refrigerator cleaner.

There are different types of hydrogen peroxide:  3 percent hydrogen peroxide bottles are the ones you can usually find in all households, 6 – 10 percent hydrogen peroxide is used for hair bleaching, ‘’food grade’’ 35 per cent hydrogen peroxide and the 90 percent hydrogen peroxide which is used in industry.

So, which of these is the safest to get rid of age spots? The 6 percent hydrogen peroxide will probably suffice your need for a stainless and beautiful skin. Before you start rubbing it on your skin, you have to know the right way to do it.

First steps to appropriate hydrogen peroxide use

Hydrogen peroxide could cause some abrasive reactions which mean you have to test yourself before using it. Put a little bit behind your ear and wait until you see that nothing strange is happening. You should use the 6 percent hydrogen peroxide solution. The ones you can find in pharmacies are usually 3 percent ones and are used for cleaning scratches, and won’t fulfill the goal you’re trying to achieve. Any solution with over 6 percent of hydrogen peroxide concentration could be perilous so make sure you find the one with the recommended one. Then you should wash your face well with some soap and warm water and dry it with a clean cloth once you’re finished. Exfoliation should ensue afterward. Massage your face with circular movements and then rinse it again with water and dry with a towel.

Starting to whiten

Take some cotton wool and soak it in the hydrogen peroxide. Pat the wool on the affected areas a few times and make sure they become wet. Leave the hydrogen for 20 minutes and then repeat the procedure if necessary.

Finishing it off

After you’ve waited for 20 minutes rinse your face well and dry it. Visible results should appear after a few weeks. We have to note that you may feel some stinginess or redness after use which is normal, but if it is excessive you should stop using the solution immediately. People with lighter skin are usually more prone to irritations

How NOT to use the hydrogen peroxide on your skin and warnings

As we have already said, using hydrogen peroxide is not completely harmless.  First of all, don’t go tanning when you treat your skin with this solution. You risk the situation getting even worse, i.e. you’ll get even more age spots or the ones you already have will get even darker.  Hydrogen peroxide will probably dry your skin quite a bit, so don’t neglect moisturizing it after each treatment. Finally, don’t forget to take care of your neck as well because it, too, can show the exact same signs of aging as your face.

Hydrogen peroxide and baking soda face mask

All you need for this mask is a tablespoon of baking soda and a tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide. Before applying this mixture to your face wash your face thoroughly and pat dry it. Leave the mixture on your face for 5 minutes and then rinse it off. Remember to moisturize your skin after the treatment.

In order to make this mask, you’ll need baking soda (3 tablespoons), salt (2 pinches), glycerine (a cup), hydrogen peroxide (a cup) and lemon juice (squeeze out half of it). Start small, and if you feel irritated too much by the mask, rinse it off immediately.  We have to note that this isn’t a miracle formula and you won’t see the results overnight. After some time the dark, age spots might just start to diminish slowly.

Side effects of the Hydrogen Peroxide use

Patients usually don’t display any major reactions as a side-effect of using this solution. However, there are some things you have to be weary of. After topical application, you may feel some stinginess, redness or itchiness. If these inconveniences persist, you should seek medical attention. Also, there could be some breakouts, rashes and other types of allergic reactions which also indicate that you should look for a doctor. If you notice some swelling of your face, tongue or throat, you should act on it urgently because this presents a more serious reaction to peroxide than the previous ones. Also, hydrogen peroxide can deter the blood flow to the skin which is detrimental at many levels (no oxygen and nutrient distribution to the skin).

Conclusion

Hydrogen peroxide definitely is one of the most effective ways to whiten those pesky age spots. You should abide by the rules of its application and prepare your skin by cleaning and exfoliating.  Six percent solutions are the safest one to use and begin using it little by little in order to see your skin reaction to it.
