Have you ever been in a dressing room trying on that cute outfit and suddenly come to a shocking realization – that you have cellulite! Those fluorescent lights just uncovered what you’ve been fearing for ages, yes that nasty orange skin on your thighs and bum, it affects everyone! Women are more prone to cellulite than men as we naturally store more body fat and our skin is much thinner than men’s, however, this also means that we have to go out of our ways to fight this nasty looking monster that lives under our beautiful skin.
Cellulite is annoying and takes forever to get rid of, however, there are a lot of things you can do to stop it from getting worse, and, eventually, get rid of it once and for all!
Things that Don’t Work
Before we get into the things that can actually help you, let us first break some common lies about cellulite and products that eliminate it. Most of these things are typical snake oils and other money scams that people make to cash in on insecure women and men that just want to get rid of their cellulite, but let us say once more – these things do NOT work. Save your money for something smarter and for something that will actually bring you the results you want.
First of all, cellulite creams do not work! These creams and gels contain various chemicals that are supposed to somehow magically make your fat cells disappear, but anyone with a basic knowledge of the world can realize that this is not possible. If only this was possible, all of us would look like supermodels! Instead of doing what they promise, these creams and gels usually induce swelling that is only temporary and can reduce the appearance of cellulite, however, once you stop using the creams, the effect wears off, and you’re back where you started.
Cellulite shoes are not only ugly but completely useless as well. In addition, they are quite hard to walk in as well! Apart from making you wobble while you wear them, they won’t do anything else, including the getting rid of cellulite part.
Finally, cellulite massagers are supposed to work magic by breaking up the fat cells, which, we know, is impossible. They may temporarily improve the look of your skin, but that’s mostly due to the fact that they improve circulation and promote some swelling. All in all, you won’t get any long-term results with these.
Now that we’ve got that covered, let’s see what actually works in reducing the cellulite and preventing it from getting worse. An important thing to remember is that your genetics do play a significant role in the visibility and amount of your cellulite, so you may not be able to eliminate it completely. However, these tips will definitely help with the reduction, as well as the prevention of new cellulite.
Improve Your Health
One of the most important things you can do for the appearance of your skin and for your body is to maintain good health. Improving your health will not only make you feel good and strong but will also improve the overall image of your body and your cellulite. You should pay attention to the levels of collagen in the skin and the health of connective tissues as they are the reason for your skin becoming loose. The weaker and stiffer these tissues become, the looser your skin will be, making the cellulite more prominent.
Lose Excess Body Fat
The more fat you have, the worse your cellulite will look. It’s as simple as that. By aiming to lose fat, you are taking the pressure off the tissue, making the cellulite less prominent. Light exercise and drinking a lot of water can help a lot, but most importantly, keeping a healthy diet will help with the fat loss. If you are overweight, try bringing your body fat to a normal range, and even if you’re not overweight, try to reduce excess fat which will definitely alleviate the cellulite.
Pay Attention to Lymph and Blood Circulation
Lymph drainage and poor blood circulation can lead to various inflammations and swelling which definitely do not help with cellulite. These issues affect the reparation of connective tissues and collagen in the skin. To improve blood and lymph circulation, you can opt for weightlifting exercises and squat. Weightlifting makes your muscles grow and tightens your body, which gives your skin a smoother and fuller look, avoiding the “skinny fat” appearance.
